The Covid 19 pandemic has resulted in an expansion of the food bank’s activities, a change in distribution models and volunteer opportunities, said Cathy Fitzgerald, executive vice president and chief operating officer of feeding America. We are grateful to the NBA, WNBA and supporters for this partnership, which will not only provide food banks with money, but also with much needed coverage to ensure the safety of their staff, volunteers and neighbors in need.

In Canada, we have been more than twice as aware of the need for access to quality food since the beginning of the pandemic, and thousands of people are working on the front line to feed the people during this crisis. Their health and safety is vital to ensure that no one goes hungry, says Laurie Nickel, CEO of 2nd Harvest. These blankets are an important tool in this fight for public health, and we thank the NBA, WNBA and the fanatics for their support, as well as Industry Rag and FOCO for their generosity. This aid will help the second harvest to redistribute enough food to feed millions of Canadians in the coming months.
